According to SCORENigeria, regular captain Wilfred Ndidi will start the match from the bench, paving the way for Iwobi to wear the captain’s armband.
The 30-year-old midfielder is expected to lead a reorganised Nigeria midfield as the Super Eagles aim to build on their 2-1 victory over Madagascar in their opening qualifier last Friday.
Iwobi made his 102nd appearance for Nigeria in the win over Madagascar, making him the country’s most-capped active player.
The midfielder is also a member of Nigeria’s 100-cap club, alongside Moses Simon, Vincent Enyeama, Joseph Yobo and Ahmed Musa.
The Super Eagles will face the Djurtus at the September 24 Stadium in Bissau, with kick-off scheduled for 5pm Nigerian time.
Nigeria will be looking to secure another victory as they continue their campaign for qualification for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
